Fabricator/Sheet Metal Worker

Palamatic Ltd is looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Fabricator and Welder to join our growing team of highly skilled craftsmen. Producing items for use in the production of materials handling solutions, the ideal candidate will be self-motivated, hard-working, and have excellent attention to detail.

Skills and Experience

  •  Working with mild and stainless steel, 1.5mm, 2mm, 5mm, sheet, box section and tube
  • Sheet metal work
  • TIG/MMA/MIG welding
  •  Use of press brake, guillotine, radial arm drill and other machinery
  • Stainless steel crack and crevis procedure – experience beneficial
  •  Stainless steel polishing – experience beneficial
  •  Housekeeping of the workshop to a planned regime
  •  Management of the upkeep of all tools – reporting any faults or shortages to the line Managers.
  •  Working to drawings/sketches/checklists/work instructions

Assembly Fitter 

Palamatic Ltd is looking to expand its highly skilled assembly/fitter team. The ideal candidate will be a skilled mechanical fitter. The main focus of this role is to build high quality lifting equipment, mainly for the industrial handling division. This will include, but is not restricted to, building sub-assemblies in line with production requirements, assisting with the build of full lifting systems, testing and quality checking prior to delivery. 

Skills and Experience:  

  • Top level fitting and assembly skills 
  • Skilled use of hand tools for precision work 
  • Be proficient with CAD drawing – reading and interpreting drawings 
  • Hold a recognised qualification as a minimum NVQ2 and served a full mechanical apprenticeship 
  • Understanding of how to work to quality procedures – work procedures/checklists 
  • Be aware of safety issues 
  • Be capable of reporting verbally and in writing 
  • Have good health and level of general fitness 
  • Hold a full clean car driving licence 
  • Be IT literate

Project Manager

Palamatic Ltd is currently looking to expand its team of exceptional Project Managers to work on a variety of materials handling solutions with a wide and varied customer base. As the key point of contact throughout the project lifecycle, the Project Engineer must display excellent customer service skills with a sound knowledge of the processes required to deliver a manufacturing project on time and budget, working with key stakeholders to ensure this happens smoothly. The Project Manager is responsible for all areas of the project including liaising with suppliers, conducting risk assessments and producing all paperwork to a high standard. Working closely with our design engineers and production teams, this truly is a diverse role that is key to ensuring Palamatic remains ‘best in class’ within our industry sector. The ideal candidate would have a mechanical engineering background and experience of working on mechanical equipment projects, preferably within a clean room environment (food industry, pharmaceutical).

Responsibilities:

  • Pre order advice and technical support for sales when requested
  • Production of GA’s for approval by client
  • Planning engineering / drawing schedules
  •  Production of manufacturing design drawings for purchase of parts
  • Planning manufacturing and assembly schedules with the Head of Production
  •  Manage the supply of parts for projects
  • Co-ordinating the build of the BOMs for the equipment within Sage
  • Working to tender budgets and reporting on variations to costs
  • Updating Production Spreadsheets weekly in line with requests from Finance
  • Site meetings as required
  • High level customer and supplier communication
  • Production of technical documentation to support projects
  • Production of FAT/SAT protocols for projects and planning for these

Skills & Experience:

  • Proficient producing technical drawings using AutoCad and Solidworks
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain accurate project plans is essential
  • Experience of Sage 200 an advantage
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Client focused with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally at all levels
  • Ability to work autonomously, liaising with key stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of the project
