RotaSlit fully automatic sack opening machine

1.
Inspection windows/hatches on the cutting system and tumble drum will be bolt-on design. These should only be removed under a PERMIT TO WORK procedure after the machine has been safely isolated.
The tumble drum maintenance access door will incorporate a safety interlock switch.
Access to the cutting system on this model (TCS480) is via a bolt-on hinged door for ease of inspection and cutting disc replacement.  The drive motors also outwardly hinge away from the machine body.

Standard electrical specification is 380v/3ph/50Hz.
Electrical control voltage is 110v AC.
Electrical control panel (safe area) will be machine mounted.
Panel will be generally RITTAL manufacture.
Control equipment will be generally TELEMACANIQUE supply.
Mains electricity connection to the Control Panel is NOT Palamatic's responsibility.
We DO NOT include interface with other Plant equipment (please contact Palamatic to discuss tailored requirements)
All drive motors and field devices will be sealed to a minimum IP55 classification
All motors and field devices will be wired to the control panel in SWA or mild steel conduit (unless otherwise agreed)

General materials of construction:
Motors and gearbox all to suppliers colours inline with TEFC specification.
Bearings will be our standard out-rigged type, cast iron body painted to manufacturers standard.
Carbon mild steel with our 2-pack epoxy paint finish - colour BS4800 White 00-E-55.
Stainless steel standard specification available to 304, 2B Mill plate finish, welds as laid and acid cleaned. Upgrades to surface finish and welds is available. Please contact Palamatic to discuss tailored requirements.
As the manufacturer of this product, Palamatic are able to supply the machine using a mixture of materials to meet customers tailored specifications.

The outlet hopper can be static or vibratory (to aid product flow).
Vibration can be electric out-of-balance motors, or pneumatic piston types to suit the application or classified area.
The outlet flange is nominally 250mm diameter. This can be designed to suit the downstream process (please contact Palamatic for tailored design options).
With vibratory hoppers, a flexible skirt is provided between the main machine body and the hopper.
We DO NOT include any connection between the outlet hopper and the down stream process - unless otherwise agreed.

The RotaSlitTM is available with three different types of sack cutting action.
The SAC240 - is our basic entry machine, which uses a 'toothed' screw auger to puncture and crush the sack prior to entry into the tumble drum chamber. Recommended through-put is 4 sacks/minute.
The SSC240 - includes a SINGLE SHAFT rotary disc cutting system above the screw auger. Still recommended for 4 sacks/minute, this machine will handle more compacted/rigid sacks.
The TSC480 - incorporates a TWIN SHAFT rotating disc cutting system. This is ideal for a variety of sack types, with a higher through-put speed of 8 sacks/minute.
The cutting discs are manufactured from High-Speed Steel as part of the standard design.
Palamatic will recommend the most suitable solution based on information passed on from the client.

6.
High Level Probe used to protect system from overloading.
Recommended on all high through-put capacity machines such as the TCS480.
Probe types available to suit project.

7.
Emptied sacks are fed directly into a specially developed screw (auger) compactor.
This feeds the cut sacks into the compactor outlet tube.
Emptied sacks are collected in a safe, dust tight operation.
Special polyurethane tubing is fitted over the compactor outlet tube prior to machine start-up.
A special securing ring keeps the tubing under tension.
Access must be made at the end of the compactor tube to allow the tubing to be changed when full.
Customers process defines this time scale.

8.
The unique 'soft tumble' action removes any remaining product from the cut sack pieces.
The tumble drum mesh will collect the majority of sack debris, but is not guaranteed to remove all debris.
If the application is sensitive to sack debris, Palamatic recommend a SIFTER is built in to the downstream process. Please contact Palamatic to discuss requirements.
The tumble drum action may break down some product lumps.
If there is a maximum lump size requirement please contact Palamatic to discuss additional options to help break down the product.

9.
The model shown here incorporates an inclined infeed conveyor (infeed shelf suitable for manual loading also available).
For higher through-put systems we always recommend the use of an powered, inclined infeed conveyor.
This can then be used to transport sacks from ground level up to a platform mounted machine.
We also recommend the use of a Palamatic Pal-U-LiftTM Vacuum Sack Lifter. This will remove all manual handling issues from the process.

10.
The system is designed to minimise dust emissions.
The high efficiency dual cartridge system includes reverse jet swing wing cleaning of the filters.
This works on a timed cycle between the two filters ensuring one of the filters is still 'on-line' at all times.
Each filter has a 5msq area and are 'clean side' removal (via an access panel) for inspection, maintenance, and changing.  'Dirty side' (removed through the machine body) removal is an available option.
When incorporating dust extract, the unit is at all times under negative pressure to ensure minimal escape of dust into the atmosphere.
This model photograph shows a sound attenuator on top of the unit to reduce noise levels.
Optional filter media is available to suit the products, and environment.
Optional features such as magnahelic or photohelic gauges are available to monitor filter condition.
