Manual Handling Issue Solved using Electric Hoist

As a global solutions provider, Domnick Hunter is a world leader in the filtration, purification and separation of compressed air and gases with many significant brand labeled products and major customers.

When a Health and Safety issue arose concerning the lifting of heavy 25Kg filter cases, Palamatic Handling Systems were contacted to offer a suitable lifting system to raise the cases off the floor so both male and female operators could manually slide a sleeve coating around it and then lower the whole unit onto the pallet. The implementation of the handling equipment also eliminated the possibility of damage to the packaging sleeves that might otherwise occur during physically handling.

Although more normally associated with the manufacture and installation of vacuum lifters, Palamatic's handling solution for this process was to supply a free standing jib crane with an electric hoist. A simple, mechanical hook end effector was employed to attach the product to the hoisting equipment. Raising and lowering of the payload was then performed using the hoists pendent controller, with simple push button operation. The electric hoist is suspended from a wheeled load carrying trolley which runs freely along the swing jib track. The jib arm pivots about the support column. In this case jib stops were fitted to prevent the jib arm from clashing with existing plant equipment.

Wayne Abbott of Domnick Hunter told Stuart Ingledew of Palamatic that the company was satisfied that the handling problem had been completely eliminated by the installation of the equipment.
