21.02.09

![]()
Business as usual this week, with several vacuum lifters completed and dispatched. Parts started arriving and assembly commenced of three Manipulator units destined for installation at a beverage industry client during February and early March.
Palamatic Vacuum Lifter for Carton Handling
This vacuum tube lifter (demonstrated by Emma Wright) was assembled and tested for our distributor, Vinca, in Spain. The unit is supplied to lift cardboard cartons, using a vacuum grip on the upper taped surface. Two suction pads are employed, one sitting either side of the taped centre to avoid pulling the tape from the box under vacuum.
The vacuum lifter here uses the Palamatic PL-SPL type vacuum control handle to regulate the flow of air and thus control the up and down motion.
A lift tube cover is fitted to protect the main lifting tube. The entire system includes a freestanding jib crane, with 3m (10ft) boom. Earth bonding is fitted throughout, as the unit is destined for installation in an ATEX classified hazardous environment. The vacuum source of this unit comes from an air powered vacuum ejector, again employed due to the Zone 1 ATEX environment.

Palamatic Vacuum Lifter for Multiple Paint Pail Handling
This vacuum lifter was assembled and tested for our distributor, Busch in Canada, from our In Stock range of products.
The vacuum lifting (demonstrated by James Smith) unit is designed to lift two paint pails or drums at the same time, thus speeding up the handling process for the end user.
In this case, an extended handle has been used to allow the operator to stand slightly away form the pails. This also enables an operator to reach to the back of a pallet when palletizing product at the end of a production line.
Two circular suction cups sit within the space available on the flat lid of the pail. These use flat, natural rubber seals to secure a safe vacuum grip on the metal lid. It is essential here that the end user understands that the lid must be securely hastened to make sure it does not come loose during the vacuum lifting process.

Palamatic Manipulator Assembly

Parts started coming together this week for the manufacture of three Manipulators. These three units are all to be supplied to the same customer, a global giant in the brewing industry.
Once complete these units will be used to load +70kg film rolls onto a Kister packaging machine. The design includes an expanding gripping tool that locates inside the roll core. Also included is a 90 degree rotation feature to allow the rolls to be turned from core vertical on delivery pallet to core horizontal when loaded on to the Kister machine.
The three units will be installed in the North West of the UK over the coming weeks.
More details to come next week.
